Exotic Wood Humidors As A Works of Art...

In this article, you’ll learn about different wood humidors. Humidors are used for different things, but here we’re referring to cigar humidors, and the exotic wood humidors at that! These can become works of art, in a sense, because the carving and design can be so well done.

There are tons of different kinds of woods out there available to you to make your humidor with. However, some woods are much more desirable and attractive than others. These are the exotic, foreign sorts of woods that come from all over the world. Hardwoods are beautiful when smoothed out and shaped into a humidor. You can choose a dark colored wood or a light colored wood, one with visible grains, or one without them that is smoother and more solid in color. Exotic wood humidors are delightful to look at and also really keep the humidity under control because they are such fine and high quality woods.

Ebony is one of the more popular exotic woods that you can have your humidor created from. It’s a rich, dark color and looks exquisite when polished. Walnut and blister maple are also very popular and rich choices, as well as tiger maple and ancient kauri wood. Many people have never even heard of these types of woods! They are beautiful, to say the least, and the smells that come off of them are subtle yet captivating.

Worried About your kitchen Equipment’s!!!

Do you know how to care for your wooden cutting boards? Oiling cutting boards is one of the best things you can do to maintain the health of your kitchen equipment. It seals off pores where bacteria can grow, and it also looks nice! This blog will give you instructions and information about oiling cutting boards.

When you take care of your board in this way, you will fend off odors from the bacteria that will get into the pores. You reduce stains and create a much better look, with a rich shine. The grain in the wood is taken care of as well. You can oil your boards every couple of weeks, shorter or longer durations if you find that you need more or less, of course. This will vary if you wash them frequently or use them frequently, too. You can use a variety of natural oils that will help to keep the board free from chemicals, and they often smell nice, too! You can find mineral oil, for example, for cheap at most grocery stores. Simply get your oil and a clean rag and you’ll be good to go. Make sure you don’t use cooking oil, however, because they can become rotten or rancid, and that of course will defeat your purpose for oiling in the first place!

So, what you do is simply add some of the oil to your rag and rub it into the wood of the board in a nice circular pattern. Do this once all over the board and let it dry. Then do a second coat. Keep repeating the process of oiling and drying until the board doesn’t absorb the oil any more.

Optimal Environmental Conditions For Cigars!

This blog will give you some information about commercial humidors. Humidors in general are similar to wine cellars. They provide a controlled space where humidity and temperature are regulated to most perfectly suit the cigars (or the wine, in the wine cellars case). The cigars are maintained as fresh in these most optimal environmental conditions.

What’s the difference between a commercial humidor and a personal humidor, though? Personal humidors can be very small, just a little box that you fit in a few good cigars. But a commercial humidor will be much bigger in size, naturally, so that it can hold many more cigars which will be sold in a store—a commercial venture. You can get commercial humidors on the smaller side, where they’re just like a small china cabinet with different layers and a glass outside, for viewing. Or you can purchase them has huge rooms that will house and store different cigars for sale. The pricing runs proportionately to the size and structure.

A good humidor will be made from wood, and will be polished, sturdy, and the controls easy to handle. You’ll want to make sure that these features are true for the piece. With careful attention to the construction of your humidors, you’ll be able to make sure that it holds everything airtight and controls the humidity expertly. Just a small leak in the air will cause the cigars to spoil much faster than if everything were properly and well-constructed.

Maintain Your Wood Board With Vigor and Freshness!

Some people think that all you have to do to a cutting boards is use it and rinse it off. There are other considerations, however, for taking the cutting board to the next level and really caring for it. You can oil it, clean it with a peroxide solution that will keep it sanitized but not ruined, and you can also prevent it from warping. This blog will tell you about some of these factors related to the mighty cutting board.

What causes your board to warp? Moisture is the main reason. But why would your board get too much moisture in it? Because you didn’t adequately let it dry, and you didn’t oil it well to prevent the pores from soaking up excess moisture. When only one side of the cutting board is used, too, this causes warping. Moisture will collect mostly on that side where you use it most, and then the fibers of the wood will expand and spread out, as opposed to the other side, which is still pretty tight and unused. All you have to do is use both sides of the board equally!

A convenient way to remove stains and odors, too, is by using simple table salt. You simply rub the salt over the cutting board and then rub a lemon over it. Rinse it off well with hot water. You can also use baking soda for odor removal, especially with onion, garlic, and other strongly scented foods. There are these issues and more that can help you really maintain your wooden cutting board with vigor and freshness!

Care For Wooden Cutting Boards...

This blog will describe some of the benefits and offerings of a custom wood-working company as opposed to a big business. If you want something customized and unique, you’ll clearly want to choose the wood-working company. The cutting board in an industrial area will be a plastic, plain thing most likely, one that you didn’t choose and didn’t have a say in how it looked. But, most likely, you can get a wooden customized cutting boards from a place that serves its customers one by one and makes them just what they order. You can learn about oiling cutting boards and caring for them, too, from these smaller wood companies, because the employees have the time and the mind to come out and help you purchase what you need, and then further helps you care for it.

Smaller wood working companies care, when it comes down to it, and they’ll usually take great pride in your design. They work one piece by piece, never making a whole production line of goods. There’s great individuality that you can achieve in your house and kitchen with customization. You can go for quality rather than quantity. Clutter is reduced and the nature of your products and tools greatly increases. You can also give awesome gifts with custom wood designs. Salt and pepper shakers and wine stoppers are among the most favored types of small gifts. A commercial or personal humidor can be something of a larger gift, personalized to fit the style of the recipient.

Custom Designed Humidors!

Cigar humidors are not the most common thing out there, but Carolina Wood Designs carries some of the best. We are woodworkers who custom-design your humidor to suit your tastes perfectly. We can do the same with our wooden cutting boards—another type of wooden product that many people forget about, forget how useful and fine they can be in a home. With proper oiling of your cutting board and other wood materials, you can preserve these pieces so that they are handed down as a family heirloom, known for their uniqueness and symbolism for your family.

This blog will tell you a little about humidors, and the levels of humidity you’ll probably want inside of them. The nature of wood is to change and adapt to different temperatures, so that’s something to keep in mind for both humidors and for cutting boards! So, the basic percentage of humidity to “dry” air in a basic humidor is about 68-74% to 32-26%. People believe that the cigar flavors “evolve” at that temperature and humidity level, and this level supports an even burning of the cigar. Say at 70% humidity with a 64 degree Fahrenheit, the air will contain approximately 10 grams of water per cubic meter of air.

In such an environment, the cigar should absorb the ideal amount of that humidity, which is about 14% of its weight. Hopefully this blog will help you be mindful of the optimal humidity levels you’ll want to create in your custom, best made humidor from Carolina Wood Designs. Be sure to also check out our wooden cutting boards for more great ideas, for products to pass down the generations!

Cutting Boards Care!

Have you ever wondered what a cigar humidor does? Some people have heard of them but aren’t very sure whether it’s something they’d want to buy for themselves. At Carolina Wood Designs, you can get some of the best cigar humidors available made just for you. This blog can possibly help you decide if you want a humidor in the first place, and then we can direct you to the way to an excellent, one of a kind custom wooden humidor through our shop.

With cigar humidors, you’ll want to take several factors into account. First, there’s your basic type of wood. Carolina Wood Designs offers lots of different varieties, although there are certain types that tend to be somewhat better than others, such as Spanish Cedar. You can choose veneer or solid wood, and then there are glass or wooden lids. You’ll want to carefully determine the optimum humidity level to create the best internal conditions. Carolina Wood Designs also can be very flexible on your size of humidor, from small box shapes to humidors that are as big as a room!

If your cigars dry out because the temperature is too high or the humidity too low, the cigars will not taste as good. They will also burn faster, as the burning will not be slowed by a natural humidity for the cigars. This is probably the biggest benefit for using a humidifier. If you are able to keep your cigars fresh, you’ll be more inclined to enjoy them and share them with friends, over coffee, over a drink. If you think that cigars don’t taste good, it may even be simply because you have less than the best cigar humidifier. With a better way to store and keep your cigars, you might find that your experience is totally different and way more worthwhile.

A Gift For Your Loved Once....

Have you ever considered a cigar humidor for a loved one in your life as a gift? How about a wooden cutting board? These gifts are the types of non-traditional gifts that will often really excite and interest those you give them to! This blog from Carolina Wood Designs will give you some information about what are some of the best cigar humidors and wooden cutting boards available on the market today. We create and design these gifts right here in North Carolina, and can ship them out anywhere in the world to you, so that you can have access to a custom made product that will impress whoever receives it.

A cigar humidor is something that will keep a man’s (or a woman’s!) cigars at the proper humidity level, which maintains their freshness and flavorfulness. It’s similar to having a wine cellar that is put to the proper temperature and moisture level. Cigars have optimal storing conditions that make them delightful to sit and enjoy with friends and talk.

Similarly, simple wooden cutting boards can bring certain people who love to cook great enjoyment. You can oil the cutting board, too, to make them even more visually appealing. Our wooden boards often really benefit from oiling, because they have a bit more porousness than other types of cutting boards (made from different materials such as glass or plastic). With oil and a special design, you can impress and delight those friends to whom you give this kind of a gift. It can be amazing how something so simple and common can mean a lot to someone else.

Wooden Cutting Boards…

There are glass, plastic, and wood cutting boards available out there for purchase. Many people assume different qualities about the different types of materials, some of which are true, and others which are untrue. At Carolina Wood Designs, we naturally create wooden cutting boards, and many of them are quite exotic in design and wood type. This blog will give you some of the benefits for wooden cutting boards. Traditionally, cutting boards were all made of hardwoods. That is the natural, hard surface that we have available to us on this Earth. When it comes to the materials that come in contact with your foods, you may wish to choose wood, because no matter how exotic the wood, it will still be a natural substance and will not cause you harm if it comes in contact with what you put into your body. Wooden cutting boards can be made in high quality and exotic designs that other glass and plastic typically won’t use. The biggest factor many people talk about is contamination between foods when you use the same cutting board for different foods. The materials in your cutting board can absorb water and hold in bacteria, which can bet transferred to your foods. While wooden cutting boards are typically not good to put into the dishwasher, they are natural and must be cleaned by natural cleaners. They are also easier on knife edges. With these features of a wooden cutting board to consider, it may be easier to make your decision and know that the quality wood board you’ll get from Carolina Wood Designs is right for you.

Quality Cigar Humidors..

Carolina Wood Designs loves to treat its customers with quality wood cigar humidors and exotic wood cutting boards. The variety in these boards and cigar humidors is only limited by our clients’ imaginations for their designs. We intend for all of our products to be wooden works of art, as well as very useful and well-made. Our cigar humidors can be great for men who wish to relax in the living room, while for a woman who loves cooking, a wooden cutting board can delight her to make something fun in the kitchen.

We are always about safety, as well, and about informing our customers about the best care of the precious and exotic woods we use to make our humidors or boards. This blog will give you information about caring for your wooden cutting board. Look out in the future for a blog which will educate you on caring for your quality cigar humidor. For best sanitation of your wood board, you’ll want to use a natural oil to first oil and let it absorb into the wood, which will create a less-absorbent surface. You can also mix a vinegar solution to clean the board thereafter. If your cutting board ends up with too deep cuts and slashes, you may need to contact us for a new exotic wood creation—you never want to risk bacteria being harbored in those deep cuts.

Make sure you use different boards when you prepare raw foods that may have contaminants and germs in them. Make sure your wooden boards are completely dried before storing them, so that you don’t accumulate bacterial growth or decay. We can help you re-sand your wooden cutting boards, too. We can premake your board to be slightly thicker so that in the future you can refinish them and bring them back to life, so that you can always enjoy the exotic, high quality of the wood.

Exotic Wood Cutting Boards…

Carolina Wood Designs is a manufacturer of exotic wood cutting boards, wooden cutting boards that have intricate, customized designs, as well as other products such as quality cigar humidors, wine toppers, and other furniture. We are obviously big supporters of quality in wood designs, so we like to promote wooden cutting boards! This blog, however, will give you some counterexamples to wood cutting boards by describing the nature of plastic boards and glass boards.

Similar to our exotic designs and quality in our wood products, a glass cutting board is also an often beautiful and versatile board. They are very durable, resistant to heat, and are the most sanitary and easy to clean because they are not very porous and they do not get cuts in them easily. Wooden boards are more porous, but you can oil them and make it so they close up well. The only issue about glass boards is that they are very hard on knife edges, and the actual sound produced when someone uses them is quite harsh to the ear. The wooden board’s sound against a knife can actually be pleasing, on the contrary.
Similarly, looking at a beautiful humidors cigar in exotic wood is pleasing. The wooden product tends to be more than just a product, and doubles as art. Plastic boards tend to be the most affordable, but they are also the least natural and can let toxins from the chemical plastic seep out into your food over time. They are flexible and can be made in lots of different colors so you can separate boards for sanitary purposes. They usually don’t last as long as wood boards, and they leave deep grooves from cutting, which can also fray and collect food.

Intricate Cutting Board Designs

Carolina Wood Designs is a wood and carpentry company where we customize everything to you, and create individual items that are uniquely yours. We create challenging and intricate cutting board designs with different types of high-quality woods. This blog will provide you with a few safety tips to ensure you have the best cutting board experience possible. New wooden cutting boards usually do well to have a food grade mineral oil rubbed into them and to set in. All you have to do is apply the mineral oil to a soft cloth and rub the oil into the board circularly and generously.

Let it set in for about 5 minutes, when the board’s porous wood will absorb most of the oil. These cutting board designs aren’t flawed because they absorb the moisture. This is perfectly natural, but to fill in the board with the oil prevents water from filling it in, instead, which is a harborer of bacteria. Apply the oil until it doesn’t absorb anymore. Whenever your cutting board looks dry, light in color, or worn out, you can re apply the oil and create a fresh finish. Wood boards are some of the best cutting boards available, but you have to take care to treat them properly, because wood decays more easily than plastic if not cared for properly. Make sure you don’t apply too much water or totally submerge the board. Don’t run it through a dishwasher either, as that is often too rough and will weaken the board. You can use a rough sponge, however, and rub it down with hot water, and lightly rinse it clean. Wooden cutting board do great with a natural vinegar sanitizer, so you don’t have to pollute your surface with synthetic chemicals. If you follow these practices, you will maintain your Carolina Wood Designed board as the best cutting board you’ve had!

Best Cutting Boards

Carolina Wood Designs is a business of wordsmiths’ and artists who custom-make different wooden cutting board designs. They are arguably some of the best cutting board designs out there, because we have seen many different situations and design preferences, so we have been able to assimilate and create new designs continually. This blog is dedicated to the cutting board, and to the simplest, best cutting board safety. Cutting boards are actually prone to passing germs and bacteria between food, because many people don’t pay close attention to how they are cutting food, what foods they are cutting on the same boards, and how well they’re cleaning the boards.

The biggest issue in sanitation is the passing of germs from one food to the next in cutting. You may cut raw chicken, wash the board lightly, and then soon after start cutting strawberries. The germs that tend to thrive in raw meat will not completely be washed away by water. Additionally, people often think that they are wiping a cutting board clean with a dish towel, when in fact the towel itself harbors other bacteria. We suggest using different cutting board designs for each type of food you prepare—one design for meat, one for fruit, one for cheese, etc. Carolina Wood Designs are many of the best cutting boards you can find. Make sure to wash your cutting boards with hot, soapy water after every use and let them dry thoroughly—not just briefly. Coat them with a finish to seal the wood and prevent bacteria from growing in them. With these cutting board safety tips, you’ll be sure to utilize your best cutting board potential!

Cutting Board Designs

Carolina Wood Designs supplies its customers with classic, detailed cutting board designs. These are some of the best cutting boards available, because they are hand-crafted with fine woods, and they carefully follow the custom preferences of the client. In this blog, we will discuss differences between wood and plastic cutting boards. Carolina Wood Designs’ boards are obviously, well, wood! But perhaps this will dispel questions about why you might choose a wood board over a plastic one. . The differences between the best cutting boards of wood, and then the best cutting boards made from plastic, are give and take, you might say. While wood boards are great in certain ways, plastic boards are as well. Usually the cutting board designs of wood are more interesting. One of the main issues is that of bacteria growth in the grooves that a knife makes on cutting boards. Wooden boards tend to be cut into more easily, so people assume and argue that bacteria grows in them faster than in plastic boards.

However, interestingly, wooden cutting boards actually fare better when tested by studies. Plastic ended up staying wet longer, which means that bacteria survive on the surface longer. You more easily pass bacteria back and forth between food in this way. Wood is water absorbent and the water dries up more quickly, meaning that bacteria cannot survive there. Wood also contains natural antibiotic agents that act as cleaners on the wood board. Wooden Cutting board must not be cleaned with harsh chemicals, which means you won’t be passing sanitizing chemicals into your food, either. The delicate cutting boards designs you’ll find at Carolina Wood Designs are natural, clean, and unique.

Sanitization of Wooden Cutting Boards Naturally

In a past blog, we discussed some of the cleaning techniques and considerations you’ll want to keep in mind when purchasing and using a cutting board. These are specific to wood cutting boards. Some of the best cutting board designs are found with Carolina Wood Designs, and this certainly can be attractive, but be sure not to forget about the practical matters when it comes to food safety and cutting board safety. In this blog, we’ll continue that safety discussion and further your cutting board education.
Before you use a new wooden cutting board, you should oil it using food grade mineral oil. Take a soft cloth and rub it into the board generously, and then let it stand to soak in for about 5 minutes. The board will absorb much of the oil. Keep applying the oil and letting it dry/absorb into the wood until the oil does not absorb in any further. This will prevent bacteria from absorbing into the wood as easily, and will prolong the cutting board’s life by many years. You should re-oil your board whenever it appears light and worn in color.

Because wood is so absorbent, be sure to never submerge the cutting board in water for longer than a few moments. Don’t run it through the dish washer either, because the cutting board designs are relatively delicate. Use a rough sponge, scrub with hot water, and rinse clean. Dry immediately with a paper towel. You can sanitize the board naturally, using a 5:1 water/white vinegar solution. Let it sit, and then apply another oil coat to seal in the sanitation.
The benefits of wooden cutting boards are many, for beauty’s sake, and for nature’s sake. You aren’t letting your food come in contact with unnatural chemicals that plastic is made of and you use natural cleaners to care for the wood.

Carolina Wood Designs is a carrier and creator of many different wooden cutting board designs. In this blog, we’d like to spend some time talking with you about best cutting board safety. Many people may not realize that you can be more or less safe in terms of food illnesses if you adopt certain procedures for sanitizing and using your cutting boards, be them wood or plastic.
You want to be careful about cross-contamination of foods. Some raw foods like meat should not come in contact with foods that will remain uncooked. If you’re using the same cutting boards for both types of food, you run the risk of cross-contamination. Consider purchasing a separate cutting board for all of these categories: fresh produce and bread; raw meats; poultry and seafood; dairy products; and cooked foods. You might even try different colors or cutting board designs to help you remember which is which. Reducing bacterial transfer is key in safe cutting.
After every use, cutting boards should be washed with hot, soapy water and then rinsed with clear water and air dried. If you’re going to pat them dry, be sure to use un-used paper towels, but not your kitchen dishtowel. The dishtowel will probably have been used and filled with bacteria you want to keep from your cutting board.
There are a few other safety tips that might be helpful, but for the designs and simplicity of Carolina Wood Designs cutting boards, these tips should serve you well.

Carolina Wood Designs is a source for intricate cutting board designs, and produces some of the highest quality cutting boards out there. Given that all of our cutting boards are made from different types of wood, you may have a question about whether wood or plastic cutting boards are better. This blog will tell you a one aspect of why wooden cutting boards are useful. In general, however, it’s usually a bit of give and take, where wood boards are better in some ways, and plastic are better in other ways.

If you look at the situation one-side, you get the belief that plastic cutting boards are better because grooves are created when you cut into a wooden cutting board with a knife, and in those grooves, bacteria could grow that would infect the next food that was put onto the cutting board. People argued that because plastic cutting boards are harder than wood, they don’t develop as many or as deep of grooves, and they were less likely, therefore, to pass on those harmful bacteria. The only issue was that studies showed the opposite was true: Plastic is not water-absorbent, so it stays wet longer, which means bacteria can survive on the surface longer. On the other hand, wood absorbs water quickly, so it dries faster, which means shorter bacterial survival. Additionally, wood contains natural antibiotic agents that slow up bacterial growth.
There is more to the story between plastic and wood cutting boards, but this will help you get a bit of perspective on the matter. If you have interest in trying a wooden cutting board, remember that the designs found at Carolina Wood Designs are unlike any others, as they are custom made from fine woods.
