This blog will tell you a little about humidors, and the levels of humidity you’ll probably want inside of them. The nature of wood is to change and adapt to different temperatures, so that’s something to keep in mind for both humidors and for cutting boards! So, the basic percentage of humidity to “dry” air in a basic humidor is about 68-74% to 32-26%. People believe that the cigar flavors “evolve” at that temperature and humidity level, and this level supports an even burning of the cigar. Say at 70% humidity with a 64 degree Fahrenheit, the air will contain approximately 10 grams of water per cubic meter of air.
In such an environment, the cigar should absorb the ideal amount of that humidity, which is about 14% of its weight. Hopefully this blog will help you be mindful of the optimal humidity levels you’ll want to create in your custom, best made humidor from Carolina Wood Designs.
